Media Program Coordinator/Manager

Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) is a national grassroots organization with over 70 chapters and 200,000 online supporters, dedicated to a US foreign policy toward Israel and Palestine that promotes full equality, human rights, and respect for international law. JVP is looking for a Media Program Coordinator or Manager (depending upon experience) who as member of the Communications Team will be a key part of implementing JVP’s media strategy, including message development, support and training for JVP chapters and councils, cultivating relationships with reporters and editors across a range of media, and keeping staff and core leaders updated on relevant news on a daily basis. 

Duties and responsibilities:
Conduct proactive media outreach about JVP National’s campaigns and positions
Respond to media inquiries, coordinate and prepare staff & members for interviews
Pitch stories about JVP’s work and perspectives on developments in Israel/Palestine
Maintain relationships with journalists & allies
Support and train local chapters and member leaders  in their press work for actions and events
Contribute to organizational policy statements 
Participate in weekly messaging team meeting
Keep staff & members informed with a daily news bulletin
Coordinate with staff, leaders, and partner organizations to create and implement rapid response media campaigns
Maintain media databases and managing media engagement tools & technologies
On occasion, act as spokesperson for the organization
Limited fundraising and other responsibilities that all staff share
Some travel required
Committed to JVP’s mission and knowledgeable about Jewish communities and values
Strong writing and editing skills
Strong interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills 
Familiarity with international, national and local media outlets 
Knowledge of the political landscape in the US & in Palestine/Israel
Commitment to organizing and leadership development model of grassroots member organization
Independent self-starter who is able to prioritize among multiple tasks
Facilitation skills and experience leading workshops/trainings
Minimum 2 years experience in strategic communications and/or as a journalist, editor, or public relations professional preferred

Compensation:  This is an exempt, salaried full time position. The salary starts in the low fifties with a generous benefits package.
