Midwest Regional Organizer, Jewish Voice for Peace
 
Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) is a national grassroots organization with over 70 chapters and 200,000 online supporters, dedicated to a US foreign policy toward Israel and Palestine that promotes full equality, human rights, and respect for international law. JVP is looking for an experienced and energetic regional organizer to support our members in their activism, expand the region’s potential and build new chapters.  Current chapters are active in Chicago, Columbus,  Detroit, Indianapolis, St Louis, Milwaukee, Madison, Cleveland, Minneapolis/St Paul, Louisville.
 
The Midwest Regional Organizer will build regional power through strategy development in concert with local leaders and broader organizing team vision as well as link national campaigns and programs to local chapters and coalition partners (both existing and prospective).
 
For the region as a whole the Regional Organizer will:
 
  • Identify, maintain, and leverage local relationships to grow and sustain regional chapters through ongoing contact
  • Support chapters to organize campaigns, including those supporting the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement.
  • Design local grassroots fundraising and base-building efforts in partnership with JVP national
  • Serve as a voice for regional work within national conversations.
  • Cultivate and maintain good working relationships with other Palestine solidarity groups, progressive and anti-­racist organizations, leaders, and movements in the region.
 
The ideal candidate is:
 
  • Committed to JVP's mission and knowledgeable about the dynamics within the American Jewish communities
  • Passionate about making change through building grassroots power
  • Committed to coalition-building, anti-racist and intersectional grassroots organizing
  • Familiar with the challenges and opportunities of grassroots organizing in the Midwest
  • Experienced in building the leadership of diverse, intergenerational groups
  • Connected with and eager to organize with Jews of color, Sephardi and Mizrahi communities
  • A strong communicator, able to quickly put forward JVP messaging through a variety of mediums
  • Organized and can manage multiple ongoing projects
  • Able to prioritize and maintain close communication with chapter leaders and national JVP co-workers
 
Compensation:  This is an exempt, salaried full time position. The salary starts in the low fifties with a generous benefits package.

Location: The Organizer will be located in the Midwest with organizational support to set-up a home office, to share space with aligned organizations, or the option to work from the Chicago office.
